The Broken Beautiful

3-IMG_2944

It’s Tuesday – I should be teasering, or writing one of the 2 reviews for books I have finished this past week, or probably unpacking and organizing our new house (the reason I’ve been MIA for the last two weeks.)  But today I’m taking a day off – I took the kids to the zoo this beautiful AM (which by the way it was 66 degrees when we left the house!) and now I’m sitting down, something I haven’t done much of lately, and wanted to post a short, much overdue, song post!

This one is inspired by my LL, who has proclaimed this her favorite song as of late.  It’s an upbeat song, one I’ve now listened to a thousand times, but today actually took some time to meditate on the words and realized it really applies to life right now.  In a few ways.  More literally – our “broken” house – broken meaning old and a bit neglected for this example.  It has its dents, scratches, stains, lots of wear and tear, and in need of much repair.  But we came in and are working on it – some rooms look great, others will get there, but we saw the potential and can make this broken house beautiful (in time.)

Sound familiar?  Maybe how God is working in all of us?  At least I see this in me.  I’ve read, and been taught, that we all are broken vessels, jars of clay, that God repairs, time and time again, and not just repairs, makes beautiful.  Broken in this case is referring to our sins, our transgressions, our past, all things that God sees and knows and loves us in spite of.  In this time of change, unknowns, homesickness, trying to make our home a home, trying to make new friends and find out where we fit in, I have days where I feel very broken.  So today I wanted to put out this short reminder (mainly to myself but maybe it will help a few others too) that God will make all of this beautiful.  He always does, and even if I don’t see it right away or even soon, I can rest knowing He does and He is right beside me and working on it.  AND I need to focus on the beauty that is already here, my husband, my kids, my family & friends, my dogs, too much to even list! I’ve added a few verses to some pictures taken lately (it really is beautiful here!), and will leave you with this one I find especially hopeful and had found listed as inspiration for Ellie Holcomb’s song, video and verses below.

You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy.
Psalm 30:11

Thanks for stopping by today – I’ll get back to book reviews and hopefully some home updates in the next few days/weeks, but today am resting in the beauty I am surrounded by.  Have a blessed, beautiful week!

The Broken Beautiful
Ellie Holcomb

I know that I don’t bring a lot to the table
Just little pieces of a broken heart
There’s days I wonder if You’ll still be faithful
Hold me together when I fall apart?
Would You remind me now of who You are?

That Your love will never change,
that there’s healing in your name
That You can take broken things,
and make them beautiful
You took my shame
And You walked out of the grave
So Your love can take broken things
and make them beautiful

I’m better off when I begin to remember
How You have met me in my deepest pain
So give me glimpses now of how You have covered
All of my heart ache, oh with all Your grace
Remind me now that You can make a way

That Your love will never change,
that there’s healing in your name
That You can take broken things,
and make them beautiful
You took my shame
And You walked out of the grave
So Your love can take broken things
and make them beautiful

You say that You’ll turn my weeping into dancing
Remove my sadness & cover me with joy
You say your scars are the evidence of healing
That You can make the broken beautiful

You make us beautiful, oh oh
You make us beautiful

And All The People Said AMEN!

1-IMG_1799

Give thanks to the LORD for His love never ends!

Happy Monday!  I haven’t done a song in a while and if you’re like me, Mondays I could always use a bit extra encouragement.  We’ve been loving this newer Matt Maher song lately and even been ending our prayers with the chorus of this song.  It has such a good message that I wanted to share to anyone that needs a little extra push this Monday morning.  (For another Matt Maher favorite and constant prayer of mine – check out Lord, I Need You.)

Simple message – yet so profound and a great reminder each and every day. “We are all the same in need of mercy, To be forgiven and be free, It’s all you got to lean on, But thank God it’s all you need.”

The Lord’s love never ends; his mercies never stop. Lamentations 3:22 (NCV)

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Phillipians 4:19 (ESV)

That’s it for today.  Short and sweet.  Meditate on it, share it, live it!  Enjoy your week!  Amen!

“All The People Said Amen”
Matt Maher

You are not alone if you are lonely
When you’re feeling frail, you’re not the only
We are all the same in need of mercy
To be forgiven and be free
It’s all you got to lean on
But thank God it’s all you need

And all the people said Amen, whoa oh
And all the people said Amen
Give thanks to the Lord for His love never ends
And all the people said Amen

If you’re rich or poor, well it don’t matter
Weak or strong, we know love is what we’re after
We’re all broken but we’re all in this together
God knows we stumble and fall
And He so loved the world He sent His son to save us all

And all the people said Amen, whoa oh
And all the people said Amen
Give thanks to the Lord for His love never ends
And all the people said Amen

Blessed are
The poor in spirit who are torn apart
Blessed are
The prosecuted and the pure in heart
Blessed are
The people longing for another start
For this is the Kingdom
The Kingdom of God

And all the people said Amen, whoa oh
And all the people said Amen
Give thanks to the Lord for His love never ends
And all the people said Amen

Praise the Lord! He is good.
    God’s love never fails.
Praise the God of all gods.
    God’s love never fails.
Praise the Lord of lords.
    God’s love never fails.
Psalm 136:1-3

One last shout out for the day – Happy 1st Birthday to Evergreen Church.  Amazing accomplishment and a great church home in the Peachtree City GA area.

Flying High (with a little help!)

1-IMG_0152

Happy Sunday!  I’ve strayed away from my typical Sunday song posts for the last month, but decided I could use the encouragement myself, so here’s a quick one with a great message as you start a new week!

I know I’ve been exhausted from all the Halloween Festivities.  Good problems to have, but I could use some extra strength as we “officially” begin this holiday season.  I guess I could have waited until Advent, the true period of waiting, but I don’t know about you, but I feel the pressure is on these days to be super organized and start thinking about Christmas NOW (or 4 weeks ago!)

The words from Isaiah 40 have always been some of my favorite.  Verse 28 (I cut off in my picture about) starts with “Do you not know?  Have you not heard?”  Really grabs your attention.  As we may tire or become weary – our God will not.  And if we ask Him and believe in Him, He will give us strength, and help us soar on wings like eagles – great imagery don’t you think?  I could only imagine that soaring high above the earth, like this eagle here, would be both empowering and peaceful.  And isn’t that what God does for us?  And wants us to be through Him?  I’d like to believe so.

So as you enter into this next week, or season (in weather, on your calendar, and/or in life), know that you are not alone.  God does not tire, He is always listening and will give us the strength we need to move forward, or even just wait, as many of us are called to do at different points in our lives.

Take a listen to “Everlasting God” by Lincoln Brewster below.  Love this song and the message.  “Our God WILL reign forever” and will “lift us up on wings like eagles.”

Amen.  Have a blessed week!

Everlasting God
Lincoln Brewster

Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
Wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord
Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
Wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord

Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our strong deliverer

You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won’t grow weary

You’re the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings like eagles

Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
Wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord
Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
Wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord

Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our strong deliverer

You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won’t grow weary

You’re the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings like eagles

You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
The everlasting God
The everlasting

You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
The everlasting God
The everlasting

You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
The everlasting God
The everlasting

The Lord is the everlasting God
The Creator of all the Earth
He never grows weak or weary
No one can imagine the depths of His understanding

He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless
[Incomprehensible] become weak and tired
And young men will fall in exhaustion
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength

They’ll soar high on wings like eagles
They’ll run and not grow weary
They’ll walk and not faint
