Teaser Tuesday – March 18th

Happy Tuesday!

This week’s teaser comes from “You Should Have Known” by Jean Hanff Korelitz, which releases TODAY!!  Good timing – huh?  I’m about a fourth of the way through and this one has me hanging on – review to come later this week!

“She could get up now, open the door, and greet them early.  She could, she ought to, probably, but for some reason she didn’t, and the clock ticked forward as if nothing had changed, and Grace just sat there as if nothing had changed, because she wanted to and because she could.  But not for much longer.”

And the description from Amazon:

Grace Reinhart Sachs is living the only life she ever wanted for herself. Devoted to her husband, a pediatric oncologist at a major cancer hospital, their young son Henry, and the patients she sees in her therapy practice, her days are full of familiar things: she lives in the very New York apartment in which she was raised, and sends Henry to the school she herself once attended. Dismayed by the ways in which women delude themselves, Grace is also the author of a book You Should Have Known, in which she cautions women to really hear what men are trying to tell them. But weeks before the book is published a chasm opens in her own life: a violent death, a missing husband, and, in the place of a man Grace thought she knew, only an ongoing chain of terrible revelations. Left behind in the wake of a spreading and very public disaster, and horrified by the ways in which she has failed to heed her own advice, Grace must dismantle one life and create another for her child and herself.

Here are the rules:

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Thanks for stopping by today – please leave your link below too!

  1. The tease and summary has me intrigued.

  2. Great description in your Teaser. It sounds like me some mornings — I should get up, I’m going to get up, any minute, but I just don’t want to yet!
    My Teaser is from MILLSTONE.

  3. Brilliant timing, I had this on my Friday Finds post and your teaser has only made me want to buy it even more! ‘ …and the clock ticked forward as if nothing had changed’ sounds like powerful writing to me, just the kind I love
